R-407C (Freon™ 407C) is a zeotropic HFC blend of 23 % R-32, 25 % R-125 and 52 % R-134a, engineered as a drop-in replacement for R-22 in positive-displacement air-conditioning and medium-temperature refrigeration systems.

Key properties
• Zero ODP, GWP 1 774 (IPCC AR4) 
• Boiling range –43.6 °C to –36.1 °C at 1 atm; 7.2 °C temperature glide 
• Cooling capacity ≈ 5 % lower and COP slightly below R-22 at A/C conditions 
• Non-flammable, non-toxic (A1/A1 classification) 
• Net 25 lb cylinder typical (cylinder + packaging ≈ 32 lb)

Retrofit/Regulatory
• SNAP-approved retrofit fluid for existing R-22 systems after oil change to POE and dryer replacement 
• From 2024/2025, new U.S./Canadian chillers using R-407C are no longer importable; EU F-Gas caps apply from 2027 

Environmental outlook
• High-GWP HFC; long-term migration to ultra-low-GWP refrigerants (R-454C, R-466A, etc.) is underway

• Must be charged in liquid phase to preserve blend composition
