R-410A (Puron®) is a chlorine-free HFC refrigerant that replaced R-22 in new residential and light-commercial AC/heat-pump systems after 2010.
Key properties
• Up to 60 % higher cooling capacity and pressure than R-22
• Zero ozone-depletion potential (ODP)
• Must be used only in equipment designed for R-410A to avoid safety and performance issues

• 2010 global ban on new R-22 systems
Environmental outlook
High global-warming potential (GWP) means R-410A will eventually be phased out, following the path of R-134a. Next-generation HFO refrigerants are coming but are expected to cost more.
